What Information Is Collected By The DAK Sites:
Your Personal Information
In general, you can visit a DAK
site on the Web without telling us who you are or revealing any personally identifiable
information about yourself. However, there are times when we will request some
information from you. For example, when you register to use restricted parts of
our sites, and register for our newsletters, we ask for your eMail address and
a password and some times your name. Further, when you place an order with a DAK
website, you provide certain ADDITIONAL personal information to us, such as your
credit card information, billing/shipping addresses, and telephone numbers. This
is in addition to your name and eMail address.
Anytime your personal information
is requested on any of the DAK sites, you should see a link to this Privacy
Policy.
DAK gathers user information
at times of site access registration, newsletter SignUp, purchasing, customer
support, and otherwise as follows:
1.) DAK Newsletters: During
registration for the DAK newsletters including but not limited to the Free Books
5000.com newsletters, the DAKonian registrant is asked to provide information
such as your eMail address, a password and sometimes your name. This information
helps us to inform you DAKonians when updates, new products or services are available.
2.) DAK provides DAK products
and products made by third Parties for purchase and, at the time of purchase,
you are required to provide your credit card number and your billing and mailing/shipping
addresses. Credit card information is never transferred to our customer database
and is only used for order processing and billing.
3.) Additional: While visiting
the DAK sites, you may choose to participate in an online survey or poll. Information
gathered from these activities is used only in the aggregate form to better help
DAK define the likes, dislikes and general demographic picture of our DAKonian
Members. It's not linked directly to you in any way.
Unless you instruct us otherwise,
DAK's practice is to take the information you provide and incorporate it into
our customer database. We don't keep Credit Card information in the customer database.
It's only used for processing/billing your order.
Site Logs And IP Addresses
When anyone visits our web sites,
some information such as Internet or IP address, Internet Service Provider, operating
system, type of browser, the site or most recent site from which you came, and
the time and date of your visit may be collected automatically as part of the
operation of the site. This information is not linked to any of your personally
identifiable information. We use this information to compile aggregate statistics
about the total number of daily visitors to our site, the most frequently visited
pages and how long DAKonians stay at each page. This allows us to understand DAKonian
needs and to plan improvements to the site, making it more useful and easier to
navigate.

Security For Orders
And Registrations On The DAK Sites
DAK's order submission process
encrypts any ORDER information you send to us if you are using an encryption enabled
browser. DAK uses the widely adopted Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to
accomplish this encryption. By encrypting your ORDER information, our intent is
to make it extremely difficult for someone to be able to use your information
even if it is intercepted. We do not encrypt simple newsletter registrations and
Customer Service eMails, although the data is stored in secure protected servers
utilizing firewall technology.
